Jones & Redfearn

The History of Jones & Redfearn

Jones & Redfearn is the result of a merger between two well-established firms, Wesley Haslam Estate Agents and Eastlands Surveyors & Estate Agents, in October 1996. Both firms had strong local reputations, built over decades of dedicated service.

Wesley Haslam Estate Agents

Founded in 1878, during Queen Victoria’s 41st year, Wesley Haslam originated as the firm of William Hall and T.C. Amos. In 1902, Hubert Holbeche took over, but due to health issues, he sold the business to Charles Wesley Haslam. Operating from the Town Hall Chambers, Mr. Haslam expanded the firm with a focus on auctioneering, successfully dealing in real estate and chattels.

In 1928, the firm moved to 70 High Street, and further expansion led to relocation in 1951 to larger offices and sale rooms at St Helens Place. Growth continued with additional offices and new partners, including Frank Redfearn in 1961, followed by his son Nick and partner David. The firm takes pride in its heritage, spanning over 125 years.

Eastlands Surveyors & Estate Agents

Eastlands evolved from Richard Pearce & Co., established in 1951. Initially focused on residential estate agency and operating the local livestock market, the firm expanded along the North Wales coast. In 1967, Wilfred Eastland joined and later founded Eastlands, shifting its focus towards commercial property. When his son, John, took over in 1983, the livestock operations were sold, allowing the firm to specialize in residential and commercial property.

Eastlands had been based in its High Street offices since 1978. In 1984, David Jones joined after graduating from what is now John Moores University. Following John Eastland’s passing in 1990, David became Managing Partner, overseeing a four-office operation.

The Formation of Jones & Redfearn

In 1996, discussions between the partners of Wesley Haslam and Eastlands led to the decision to merge, recognizing the potential to enhance client service. With a combined 177 years of experience, the firms united to form Jones & Redfearn.

The newly established firm initially operated from Wesley Haslam’s office at St Helens Place, Rhyl, before relocating to its current premises on Russell Road in late 2000. Expansion followed in 2001, allowing for further growth and improved client service.

In 2023, Jones & Redfearn came into new ownership who have set out to continue the legacy of the business, combining expertise from both founding firms and evolving to meet the needs of modern clients. With roots tracing back over a century, the firm remains committed to delivering trusted, professional property services into its third century.
